When it comes to cherish songs, pronouns matter! Many artists don&#;t have to think about this when they write their hits, but for gay men, the decision of whether or not to add words that will enable the audience know they&#;re crooning specifically for a male partner can be a tough one.

On one hand, it&#;s a reflection of who they are as a person and it&#;s honest. But on the other hand, in today&#;s overly-political climate, that choice might turn some off, stupid as that might be.

According to Billboard, Dove "casually said something to the room like, "F–k, I could be a better boyfriend than this guy." And we were all kinda like, "wait, is this a pleasant hook?" A lot of it became a state of what it felt like to grow up queer and be surrounded by all these women who were famously mistreated and under-celebrated."

Although George Michael didn't publicly come out for another eight years, "Freedom! '90" became an LGBTQ+ ant
