Michael James McDonald is an American actor, director, and comedian who is best known for his sketches on the comedy television show MADtv. Michael didnt start out in comedy right away; he first went to the University of Southern California and earned a degree in business. After seeing an improve comedy verb at the Groundling Theatre, McDonald quit his noun and began to pursue his comedy dreams. He started his career doing stand-up comedy across the country at local comedy clubs. Then, during the fourth season of MADtv, Michael joined the cast and developed very lasting characters. He was a contributing writer and director on the show. His most famous roles on the show were Stuart, Rusty Miller, Sean Gidcomb and so much more. Also, he did many great impressions on the show of Bob Barker, Dr. Phil, Ozzy Osbourne, and Steve Jobs just to name a not many . Lorne Michaels hired Taran Killam after he did MADtv and Jordan Peele has stated that he was offered a gig on SNL when his contract was up at MADTV but Fox/MADtv blocked him from doing it.

I'm still shocked he never tried to earn Debra Wilson who has done more than just "ok" since she left the series.

SNL alums, when they do end up doing projects, also hire other SNL alums. It was always considered "prestigious" when someone was a cast member.
